Does Your Project Require A Building Permit ?

Building permits provide legal authorization to begin construction of a building project. A building permit is required for new construction, additions, alterations, renovations, relocation and rehabilitation of a building or structure including structural foundation repairs.

Work that is done without a permit may not meet the minimum building code requirements and could result in substandard construction that may not be structurally adequate. Failure to comply may result in legal action taken against you. To find out if your project requires a building permit please contact the City of Winnipeg's Zoning & Permits branch at 204-986-5140.
